OKLAHOMA CITY (June 25, 2020)— Governor Kevin Stitt today declared that all Permanent Administrative Rules (Rules) submitted for consideration for the period beginning April 2, 2019 through April 1, 2020 are approved and adopted.
“Because there is an outstanding request for a formal opinion from the Attorney General to determine what authority the governor has to approve some rules and disapprove others, I have made the decision to allow all rules to go into effect,” said Gov. Stitt. However, I have concerns with certain rules, and my team and I will review our options to address these rules moving forward.”
On May 29, 2020, the Oklahoma Legislature adjourned without presenting a joint omnibus resolution to Governor Stitt specifying which Rules are approved and which Rules are disapproved. Per Oklahoma Statute, if the Oklahoma Legislature fails to pass an omnibus joint resolution specifying which proposed Rules are approved and which are disapproved, the Governor may approve Rules by means of a single declaration published in the Oklahoma Register.
